No property in Las Vegas is more desirable than one with a functional pool, and the Las Vegas real estate market is booming. A Las Vegas home with an on-site pool will likely sell in a few days, according to Nevada real estate experts.
It is important to note, however, that a poorly maintained pool will not likely increase your property value the same way. In today’s market, buyers prefer a pool that’s ready to use, not one that requires an excessive amount of work. Maintaining your pool and keeping it market-ready requires regular pool cleaning.
The following are 5 pool cleaning tips that will help you keep your Las Vegas pool in pristine condition.

Keep The Pool Pump Running Every Day
Stagnant pools are likely to become contaminated with algae and other undesirable chemicals. It’s for this reason that you need to keep the circulation in your pool strong, especially during the seasons when the pool is in use. A moving body of water is naturally cleaner, more transparent, and more safe to swim in.
If you have a pool pump, make sure it runs for 8-12 hours per day during the hot season. It’s ideal to keep the pump running 24/7, if it’s within your budget. Backwash your filter more often if your pool pump runs a lot.
Weekly Pool Chemistry Checks
Maintaining a clean and safe swimming pool requires careful consideration of pool chemistry. It is ideal for the pH level to be between 7.2 and 7.8. Generally, a pH level of 7.4 is recommended for safe and pleasant swimming.
The chemical balance of your pool should be checked at least twice per week if you use it regularly (at least a few times a week). Check your pool’s chemical balance once per week if you aren’t using it regularly (once or twice a week).
Test strips or pool chemistry kits can be used to check the balance. It’s time to consult a professional when the balance appears off frequently.
Keeping Your Skimmer Basket Clear Is Important
A pool skimmer removes debris from water’s surface before it sinks and/or pollutes the water. The skimmer basket, though, must not be clogged for this to work effectively. Skimmers that work well reduce the need to scrub ladders, tiles, and stairs.
Skimmer baskets are easy to clean. To empty them, simply take the basket out of the water. You can try spraying your hose down the basket if the holes appear blocked.
Do Your Pools Constantly Shock? Your Chlorinator Might Be to Blame
We don’t recommend shocking your pool too often. You should shock your pool only when nitrates are present because of defecation or accumulation of algae. If the water in your pool is cloudy or green, you have a much bigger issue.
You should be able to keep a chlorine balance with your chlorinator at the end of the day. Your chlorinator needs to be examined if you cannot maintain your chlorine levels without regularly shocking your pool. The chlorine tablets may not be working, or the device may have clogging or loading issues.
Get Your Tiles Clean And More
Cleaning your pool with a pool brush is a good way to limit the amount of pollutants that stick to your tile, ladder, and stairs. While that is true, it is unlikely your skimmer will catch all items that fall into your pool.
It’s a good idea to manually scrub these surfaces about once a week. By mixing two parts baking soda with one part water, you can make a baking soda paste with no need for chemical cleaners. It is highly recommended to use baking soda to remove scum from pool tiles as it will not damage the vinyl lining.
Clean your pool surfaces using the mixture by dipping your scrubbing brush in it. Pay attention to areas that seem to be growing algae.
