Signs That You Need To Replace Your Windows

Replacing your windows Llandudno can improve many things. You can increase your comfort, lower your energy bills, increase the value of your home, increase the ventilation, and have access to more natural light. But when are you supposed to replace your windows?

Even the finest windows won’t last forever. Double glazed windows Llandudno usually last around 15-20 years – which depends on factors such as how well they’re being maintained, the weather conditions they have to withstand, and the type of material they are made from.  We have a list of 4 questions you need to think about to see if yours need replacing soon!

1. Are Your Windows Worn Out?

If there are any signs of warping, or any rot, or the double glazing seems to be failing then it is highly likely that your windows need to be replaced.

The hardest window frames to keep in good condition are wooden window frames. When first installed they look great, but they will only last if they’re properly looked after – which is easy to forget.

Once rot has got into the wood, it can be hard to stop the decay and stay on top of it. Rain can become a nightmare too when trying to keep moisture out. If you leave this the rot will get worse and it will become hard to open and close the windows.

Low quality uPVC windows can begin to discolour over time, and they can expand and become warped in heat. You might notice water leakages, condensation, holes, chips, and scratches if your double glazing is failing. This can cause difficulty regulating the temperature of your home.

2. Are Your Energy Bills High?

Windows that are old, and/or inefficient can end up having a significant effect on your homes insulation, which can lead to high energy bills. The more heat that is able to escape through the windows, the more you will have to turn up the heating to compensate for it – the same goes with air conditioning.

One way to check this is to stand by your windows, and see if the air feels cooler there. Also, if the glass of the window is cold to touch, then it’s very likely your losing heat through them. It’s a good idea to check for gaps in the frame too.

3. Are Your Windows Soundproofing Your Home?

Nowadays, windows are designed to reduce transfer, which can greatly improve your quality of life if you live somewhere busy. If you can clearly hear the sounds from outside when your inside and the windows are shut – then it’s possible your windows are quite old and need replacing if you want to reduce the noise.

4. Do You Have Double Glazing?

Have you ever thought your room is constantly far too hot on summer days, and far too cold on frosty winter days? It might be that you actually have single paned rather than double paned glass in your windows.

These windows are often found in old properties that haven’t been renovated. They can cause a high level of discomfort in your home due to not being very effective or efficient. Definitely time to replace these.
