Should You Get A Yard Clean Up?

Should You Get A Yard Clean Up?

If you’re anything like me, your yard can quite easily become a jungle. Add a few pot plants, let a few plants grow too much, add some leftover timber from a project, and pretty soon the mess in your yard starts to look a little overwhelming.

What happens now is, instead of you enjoying your garden on the weekend and getting some work done in it, you are instead contemplating how to clean it up. You’re wondering how to get the waste to the local waste center, where do you get or do you have the right tools, and where to even start.

That’s where a yard clean-up can come into play. If you get a professional service in to do a yard clean-up, you’ll find that you and are free to move on to do the jobs that you enjoy in your garden.

What Does A Yard Clean Up Include?

What is included in a yard clean-up can differ from one company to another. It will depend on what tools and what experience they have but in general a yard clean-up will include just about anything you can imagine.

Here is a Shortlist.

If it makes your yard look better, it’s probably included.

For instance, we spoke to Focal Point Landscape Services about what they include in their yard clean-up services. They showed us a video from a job where they removed a bush, ground the stump down, removed all plants around it and some of the topsoil (which was full of roots) and then they filled it with good soil and some mulch. That yard clean-up left the client with a garden that was ready to replant, a clean slate that sparks the imagination.

Another client needed some palm trees and a bit of other debris that had accumulated in the garden removed . Palm trees are a soft timber. They’re easy to cut down. The issue for the client was how to get rid of the trees once cut down. By employing the services of a gardening company they were able to get everything done in one go and move on with planning their garden without the palms in them.

How To Book A Yard Clean Up

Contact your local landscaping company and find out what their terms of service are. If you’ve got a big job you might want it quoted before you continue. Many companies will have an hourly rate, and that might suit you if you’ve got smaller jobs. The main thing is, make sure the work you require is included in their services. If you’re wanting stump grinding or concrete removal, for instance, you should check with them prior to commissioning their services. These are the sort of things that might require specialist equipment.

It’s not uncommon to book a clean-up as a half-day or all-day service, to book an allotment of time rather than book them to do a specific job. If you do that, you’ve got (usually) two men working for a set time period. If it’s a reputable company who work hard and have the right equipment, you’ll be amazed what they get done in that time frame.

What Is Not Included In A Yard Clean Up

Most local governments will charge for disposing of waste. The landscaping company will therefore need to pass on those costs to you. I would expect most companies to know how to estimate the costs of this waste. In most cases, the waste costs are measured as a cubic meter or a weight. A landscape gardener with experience in removing waste will know roughly how much it should cost to get rid of your waste.

In many cases, the costs will be payable after the disposal of the waste. The landscape gardener is transferring those costs to you after he knows exactly how much they are. That way, you’re not paying more than you should. And neither is the gardener out of pocket.

So Go Get Cleaned Up!

Don’t stare at your yard wondering where to start. Or spend the weekend transferring rubbish to the local tip. Get a landscape gardener in to do a yard clean-up. Then get on with the jobs you enjoy. You’ll be so glad you did.
